Hi All,

I wanted to share with you an early birthday gift I received from my boyfriend J.

This will save my eyes a lot!

This will save my eyes a lot!

A craft magnifying glass, I’ve been meaning to get one for years but as I had put my cross stitching on the back burner I forgot about it.

Now I can use it to finish my Pikachu!

It's slowly forming now.

It’s slowly forming now.

It does make a big difference and I’ll get this done at a quicker pace.

Pika Pikaaa!

I’ll have to get a bunch of threads to complete a bunch on Pokemon but it’s worth it to keep myself busy.

Happy Crafting

Knitting A “Rockstar” Cardigan

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , , , , , on January 23, 2013 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

In between knitting and cross stitching for others, I’ve been knitting a cardigan for myself.

Here are the pieces.

Front and back pieces

Raglan sleeves

I called it a “Rockstar” cardigan because of the colours, some rock ‘n’ roll buttons I need to find and this bracelet I may use on the sleeves.

Plus I have seen many cardys for rockers or metalheads… Have you?

I was thinking calling it Full Metal Cardigan but maaaybe thats cheesy.

It’s done I’ll have photos of course, any button suggestions would be great too!

Neckline of Skulls

Hi All,

As promised I have embellished my purple dress with tiny skulls.

wpid-2013-01-15-03-21-33The bracelet was getting a little stretched but I wanted to keep them.

It’s cheaper and maybe more thoughtful to use jewellery you already have, unless you’re looking for something specific.

Venusaur! I Choose You!

Posted in Cross Stitching, Miscellaneous, Sewing with tags , , , , , , on January 13, 2013 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

I have been hard at work on a cross stitch project I wanted to do for a long time now, I mentioned this in my last post.

So here it is.

I'm anime mad and J is obessesed with Pokemon.

I’m anime mad and J is obessesed with Pokemon.

This is Venusaur, just one of the original 151 Pokemon. I will be sewing a few more as J is impressed with how animated he/she looks.

The list so far is: Charizard and Blastoise (maybe /butterfry). For myself there’ll be Pikachu and Raichu.

I got the pattern and idea here, by Makibird-Stitching. I got the DMC embroidery threads from Ebay… I have plenty of threads to play around with 🙂

“Gotta catch ’em all!”

Busy, Busy!

Posted in Miscellaneous with tags , , , , , , , , on January 12, 2013 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

I thought I’d let you all know what I’ve been up to as I have been busy finishing a lot of items at the same time.
Oh and I just purchased some business cards, which I have wanted to do for a while.

Here is a list of things I need to do:

1. Complete Js’ (boyfriend) Venusaur cross stitch – I offered to do this for him as he’s into Pokemon (as am I), now that I’m near finishing it he wants me to do another one! There are pics on my twitter @myssmarsh and I will post when completed.

2. Cousins’ Jumper Dress – I am so close to completing this now! AT LAST! It’s taken me a while and my mom asked me to do this for her cousins birthday which is in 2 weeks time. Really hope she likes!

3. Sisters’ Game Boy Jumper – My sister X requested I knit her a jumper after I knitted her some fingerless mittens. The idea of it looking like a Game Boy is her idea and I think it’s great, not long started and can’t wait to get it done.

4. My Short Sleeved Cardigan – I needed a cardigan… NOW, so instead of waiting for my mom to do one I thought I can do it as my knitting skills have improved. Black and red are cool colours, now I just need to find me some heavy metal buttons! (Sooo rock ‘n’ roll).

I have so much more “smaller” projects I’ve written on y task board but I don’t want to bore you all. I’ll have photos as usual!

Stay Crafty!

V-Neck Delight

Posted in Miscellaneous, Sewing with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on January 7, 2013 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

I haven’t done any sewing for a while now so I brought a new stash of fabric to make myself a few things.

I decided to start with this purple velvet I had to get! Here are some photos.

I used a dress I sewn before.

I used a dress I sewn before.

I wanted to make a dress similar to the jersey dress I posted before, so I folded it in half and cut around it (do same for back, but cut the neckline a little higher).

While still folded, cut the front neckline in a downward slant to create a v-neck shape.

Snazzy dress!

Snazzy dress!

I would advise to adjust the shoulder seams while wearing your dress to see how deep your neckline is. You can always snip a little off at a time but check as you go along… you can’t go back!

As usual I will be embellishing this dress as I can’t leave it too plain. I’ll be sewing a skull or two around the neckline, because I can 😀

This was very quick and simple to make, I would recommend this dress for beginners.

Hope you enjoyed

My 2012 Blog Summary

Posted in Miscellaneous, Sewing with tags , , , , on January 1, 2013 by MontanaDesigns

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner can carry about 250 passengers. This blog was viewed about 1,300 times in 2012. If it were a Dreamliner, it would take about 5 trips to carry that many people.
