The Petal Top

Posted in Sewing, Tops with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 25, 2013 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

As usual I’ve been brimming with ideas and been completing a few of them this week (posting them here is the problem!)

I was looking around for fusible interfacing when I came across some beanbag pieces I was meant to sew, I already have a beanbag so I thought I’d use them to make a garment.

You can make your own pattern for the pieces here, I only used four pieces but you can use as much as you like.

Bean Bag Pieces

All I did was sew two pieces together at the pointed tips, (do the same again for other two). Then lay them out long ways, put one on top of the other and sink stitch them together.

This is how my Petal Top turned out, when moved about it can be worn in many ways.

I cinched it in at the waist with my new obi belt

I made this using toile fabric and it was spur of the moment make, I will give this another go with more draped fabric.

Blastoise & Pikachu

Posted in Cross Stitching, Sewing with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 22, 2013 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

After my Venusaur cross stitch I did two more and I realised that I haven’t shown them here, so here you go!

Blastoise

This took a while as there are more colours, it was still fun to make.

Pikachu

This one was quick to do, I want to make another in a different position.

I’m currently looking for some decent frames for them.

If you’re interested in making own threaded Pokemon, you can choose from plenty here

I’m waiting on threads to make Charizard next, so there’ll be more Pokemon!

Twisty Top 1

Posted in Sewing with tags , , , , , , , , , , on July 20, 2013 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

I have wanted to start on the Pattern Magic Nejiri (the twist) for a long time now.

I completed the pattern yesterday and cut it out but I’m not sure if there’s much twist in it. It might be the fabric I used… or just me!

I did the perpendicular twist (I’ll do the horizontal twist at a later date.

At the moment this is pinned together, I’ll be sewing it next week.

I can see a little drape here.

I like how this seam looks

I’ll have more pics when it’s complete, I leave the arm holes raw.

Grey Haired Cardigan

Posted in Knitting, Sewing with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 15, 2013 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

I was given the task to knit I fine, mohair type cardigan for my mom as she was having a bit of trouble with it.

I’m working on the borders now but I have photos of the pieces sown together.

FYI: I named it the Grey Haired Cardigan because I think it looks like grey hairs… simplez.

No button here, a knitted flower comes with this. Or I could use a brooch.

This pattern comes with long sleeves.

Raglan sleeves! I like making these.

To knit in this hot weather is new for me but I find it calming, especially when I can’t sleep.

Until next time craft fans!

The Trouser Dress

Posted in Sewing with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 7, 2013 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

I have upcycled a dress from a pair of trousers, the zip broke but I wanted to salvage it. I remembered I seen a fashion designer do this in a book so I thought I’d give it a go from looking at the photos.

Here’s what they looked like before.

I cut out a seam and with a bit of reconstruction I came up with this.

Where the safety pin is, you could use ribbon or slip a bow on said safety pin.

Kangaroo pockets I drafted myself.

It was easy and very quick to do as the material is already there. I want to make another out of mens trousers or some jeans.

I got a few party dresses and patterns to buy… they’ll be posted at some point, unless I find something new to make!

Rusty sun!

To my surprise I have been nominated for the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award by Knitting Revolution, thank you.

I like the idea of being thought of as a team member, especially when it comes to crafting blog. I enjoy reading other blogs too as it’s nice to see what others are doing and my to-do list gets longer due to more ideas.

I really wasn’t expecting that at all! So the rules are to nominate 14… yes 14 blog with 7 days.

So here it goes!
