Hood Skirt

Hi All,

I didn’t have time over Christmas to post here, let alone take any photos… and I have yet to finish my two tone Burdastyle dress in time for Sew Green December! As long as I get it done I suppose. I did use green thread to make this skirt so I think this counts!

I completed two more skirt refashions that are similar to the one in my last post, the one I’m showing you here was cut from a hoodie I haven’t worn for years but I didn’t want to throw it away.

I do apologise for the quality of these photos, I still can’t find my charger so I’m using a camera phone.

I have another skull hoodie somewhere but I think I’ll make a vest from it or just resize it. I have a few things I don’t wear but I can’t let myself throw them away… I think I have a lot of refashioning to do.

Top To Bottom

Hi All,

I snatched one of Js’ t shirts and quickly made a skirt from it which I’m glad I did as I was very easy. There are various ways to do this to get different results which you can google.

Here’s my skirt.

I saw this here first then I came across other techniques, I want to do the same with a jumper or cardigan so I’ll have a warm skirt for winter. I still want to make a fleece or fur skirt from scratch though, that would be different.

As usual I want to make more of these, so I will!

Two Tone Dress WIP

Posted in Dresses, Sewing with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on December 7, 2013 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

I am taking in part in Sew Green December (#sewgreendecember), the rules are simple… sew anything that’s green for December, just like Sew Red October.

I bought this lovely fitted  Burdastyle 7043 dress pattern and I thought I’d sew myself something green

Here’s a photo of some of my progress so far.

Sew Green Front

I have sewn all the pieces for the actual dress I just need to hurry up with the lining.

I’m sure I brought a zip but I can’t find it, I’ll attach that and the lining then I’m done.

The instructions are easy to follow as I like to scan through the diagrams then look at the instructions if they aren’t clear enough. I think I’ll buy more Burda patterns.

I can’t wait to finish and wear it!

For Tiny Feet

Hi All,

I looked at a few tutorials on how to make baby bootees and I made two kinds.

The first turned out great but the other ones came out really teeny tiny but still cute.

Here are the first batch.

Black & White Bootees

The white pair are made from felt and the black are made from fleece.

You can download the free pattern at The Purl Bee.

This next pair requires quite a few layers of fabric and careful pinning, I sewn one boot and it came out tiny. I may keep it as a key chain are earrings even haha!

The yellow ones remind me of ducks feet.

I’ll redraft the pieces so they are bigger and see how that works out, I’ll recycle some hoodies and jumpers by sewing these. The pattern and video tutorial can be found here.

I’ll be making a lot more of these to pass time and to match baby jumpers/cardigans that have been requested recently through my mom.

I’d like to make a baby’s coat too so watch this space.
