Birthday Wish List

Hi All,

It was my birthday on the 15th of Feb so I got thinking of a sewing/knitting list  for making gifts just for me!

I’ll start with my sewing:
1. Coat
I’ve been going on about sewing one at some point and my mom bought me a pattern some time ago, I’ll be using wool fabric possibly in tartan.

2. Blazer
I have a kwiksew pattern that looks cute, I wanted to make one as the ones I like cost way too much. I’ve seen a lot of By Hand London blazers so I’m tempted to try it.

3.Socks
I was browsing Twitter when I saw a pair of handmade fleece socks, I need these in my life… end of story there.

Knitting
1. Hoodie
My mom bought a pattern so I thought I should give it a go, it’s a chunky pattern so it should knit up quite quickly (I’ll post pics when it’s made) I also want to sew one too but I haven’t got all the materials yet.

2.Socks
There are loads of knitting patterns for socks, it’s just hard choosing one! I tried making some chunky ones but that was a fail. Somehow I ended up knitting the heel the opposite way.

3. Long Coat
I’ll most certainly be making a longer version of my Beth coat! It’s warm, has a lovely texture and I get compliments when I wear it. This time I’ll use brightly coloured wool.

There is a hell of a lot more I want to make but these are top of the list… I’m going to be very busy!

Super Chunky Ears

Posted in Hats/Hoods/Scarves, Knitting with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 8, 2014 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

My mom wanted me to knit a very warm think hat that would be big enough to fit over her dreadlocks… challenge accepted!

She gave me two different balls of wool, one super chunky and one chunky, both are two shades of pink. I knitted them using 12mm and 15mm, the ears were made using 15mm.

I think it turned out well and my mom really likes it, I just need to sort out the ear placements.

Here’s me doing a Japanese style pose!

I’ll more than likely make another one for my mom and a darker version for myself, it keeps my head really hot and covers my ears which is good as my they’re sensitive.

I’m currently knitting a bag that matches my Beth coat so I’ll be posting that soon

Until next time crafters

The Beth Coat

Hi All,

I have wanted to knit this jacket/coat for a long time now, ever since my mom knitted hers 2 years ago. I wanted to do a test run so I was lucky that she had loads of chunky wool she didn’t want anymore.

The pattern is worked in double moss stitch so it’s textured and warm, I also like the A line shape and bell shaped sleeves. Here’s a link to the book/pattern

I’m showcasing my new bobble hat in the photos too, it’s from the same pattern I made the square hats in my last post.

Here is photographic proof!

Jacket Front

Overlapped split in sleeves, I’ll sew wooden buttons there

I will be looking for some wooden buttons to tie it all together, 3 on the front and 1 on each sleeve.

I made it shorter than the pattern requires

Close on the hat. I want to cover it in skulls

I wore this today and my hairdresser wants a longer version this jacket, which is great! I’m a fast knitter so I’m always looking for something new to do (this took me between 2-3 weeks to make) and I want to make a purple version for myself too.

I should start on sewing a jacket at some point, one step at a time!
