Toad dress

Hi All,

I have sewn another stretch dress, this time using Burda 7520. I’ve called this the Toad dress in honour of Toad from Super Mario, he’s the same colour and he’s cute like this dress! I’m glad I picked this up from the swap at Sew Brum as it was a very quick sew and it looks a lot better than I thought it would.

The fabric I used is also from the meet up, I didn’t know what I was going to make from it at the time but it was cute and I like polka dots.

It’s a shame that summer is over as I want to wear this, in fact, I was about to wear it today but J advised against as he didn’t want to draw attention (most of my clothes do, so I thought Id give him a break). If I was to wear this at this time of year, I’d just layer up… which reminds me! I’ve come across this Japanese style called Mori that involves layering brown and grey dresses with white doilies (scroll through Pinterest). It looks cute and easy to recreate, so that’s on my to-do list now!

Back on track! Here is photographic evidence of Toad.

Front

This is a very simple make with a simple shape, it’s the fabric that makes it stand out plus they match my converses!

Front 2

I could see my sister in this as this is her style, slightly figure hugging and cute. I’ll be making a more subtle one for myself when I get the fabric, I like to make more than one of each pattern as I’m getting good use from it and I get my moneys worth. If I drafted it then thats a bonus, it shows that my pattern works!

Side

You’re probably wondering about the large holes at the bottom here, I was too as I’m still not sure if I’ve seen them right. I left them as they are and did the magic below.

Top

Place your arms through them and it can worn as a top! I know the wrong side of the fabric is showing when worn like this but this is a demonstration, I didn’t think about wearing it like this. I’ll pay more attention to the fabric when I sew this again.

  1. That’s a really cute dress, especially versatile wearing it as a top! Polka dots are always a winner for me, love that you’ve named it after Toad too! X

  2. Great dress, I like how it can be worn casually but you could dress it up too!
