Hi All,

I made a cape yesterday and took photos to show you how I completed this joyous task. I’ve been meaning to make a few a while ago,  as I did some fashion drawings but I ended up making skirts with my chosen fabrics.

Here’s how I began:

Front and back pattern pieces I made.

I forgot to take a photo before sewing :S

Purple trims for gathering.

These were gathered and inserted into the shoulder seams of my cape (shown below).

Sewing it onto the back shoulder was easier for me as it was the bigger piece.

Mmm cape sandwich…

This is how it looks on the right side of the cape, not sure wheather to leave the ends raw or finish them.

I also forgot to take a photo of how I inserted the neck ties, which was the same method I used to insert the gathers… I think it’s called sandwiching.

Back of garment

Please excuse the blurry photo!

Frill/gathered insert

By the way, underneath the cape is the beginnings of a corset. I will get back to that someday, I want to turn it into a dress.

Thanks for stopping by

Simple Bootees

Hi All,

I have just finished these bootees!

Pink and black

The black bootees were just because I was curious to see what they’d look like.

Last stitches on needle

I want to keep knitting these

I got the free pattern here, and wrote it down so I can knit them when needed.

I’m currently looking to get a bulk of fabric in so you’ll see a lot of sewing projects soon.

Avengers Assemble!

Hi All,

I have literally just finished this cross stitch beauty!

Took my three days to do.

I haven’t done a French knot before and tried learning through online videos (to on avail), I’ll take some time to practice.

Babys’ Hooded Cardigan

Posted in Knitting, Miscellaneous with tags , , , , on July 12, 2012 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

I have recently completed a knitted mission, a new knitted stitch for me.

I am  not quite sure what it’s called but if you know, please don’t hesitate to let me know 🙂

Bright, rainbow coloured wool.

Gathered affect on back

Multi-coloured buttons on contrasting edges

Well, I will need to invest in some “canvas fabric/card” to make the background look better…. or some models in fact. Any suggestions would be lovely.

Thanks for viewing

From Jeans To Bag

Posted in Miscellaneous, Sewing with tags , , on July 8, 2012 by MontanaDesigns

Hi All,

I recently hand sewn a “knitting bag” as I needed one so badly.

I watched a show a while ago called SuperScrimpers, which is about how to manage your money and be thrifty!

There was a tip demonstrating how to turn your jeans into a bag, here is a video similar to it

And here are some photos, enjoy!

Urban Threads

Hi All,

I quickly want to share a site I am fairly new to but I am mad about, This is a crafty site that teaches the public how to make their own jewellery, has a wide range of embroidery designs (machine and hand sewn) and great ideas of where to put them all.

Here’s a few images for you

Plenty more!:

So cute, I want to buy them all!

These designs are all curtosy of UrbanThreads, they also have a few free designs for those who want to try before the buy  🙂

Jersey Dress

Hi All,

Here is a dress I made a while ago (I did try photo shopping these but it took too long!)

Full view (excuse the bed).

I have matching skirt, it rides up a lot when I walk… I should fix that.

A close up of the dice detail.

The dice beads are from a old necklace I bought from Claires Accesories, I kept because I wanted to do this (I still have some left over).

The pattern for the dress I made myself when I was at college, I thought I’d try it out so I’d have a “club” type dress.

More sewing projects to come and I should do a tutorial to go with a few of these. Hope you enjoy!
